Jim Jamail, President / Partner

Jim Jamail, our founder and president, has more than 30 years of experience in the construction industry. He has managed more than $100 million in construction for a variety of projects, including but not limited to: mission-critical facilities, medical office buildings, nursing homes, government buildings, K-12 and higher education. Jim manages the finance, accounting, human resources and risk management aspects of our company, which are housed in our Clear Lake office. He is responsible for ensuring all aspects of fiscal responsibility and contractual compliance are delivered with professionalism and reliability. Jim is a Houston native where he resides with his wife and children.

Greg Smith, PE, Executive Vice President / Partner

Greg Smith joined the firm in 2001 and has enhanced the operational and business development processes to support successful growth of our company. A professional engineer with more than 20 years of engineering and construction experience, Greg began his career as a Navy Civil Engineer Corps officer where he contributed to the Navy’s transition from traditional “low-bid” construction procurement techniques to the “best value” alternatives of design-build and job order contracting used today. He has successfully integrated this JOC process into the Jamail & Smith Construction business plan and developed our company into one of the leading JOC contractors in Texas.

Greg was born and raised in San Antonio, earned a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering fromTexas A&M University and received a MBA from the University of Houston. He is the current industry chairman for the Center for Job Order Contracting Excellence (CJE) and currently resides in Austin with his wife and children.

Jennifer Trahan, Vice President - Finance and Accounting

Jennifer Trahan has played an integral role in the success of Jamail & Smith Construction since 1998. She first began managing the daily operations of the company as an office manager. Jennifer capitalized on her degree in accounting and finance, which she earned from the University of Houston in Clear Lake, to become controller in 2002. As the vice president of finance and accounting, Jennifer directs financial statements, is the company bonding liaison, serves as a treasurer, and designs and coordinates a variety of accounting and statistical data. She is also a member of the Construction Financial Managers Association and lives in Houston with her husband and family.

Darrell Smith, PE, Vice President - Senior Living Division

Darrell Smith, PE, has more than 30 years of commercial construction experience with an expertise in multi-state development of restaurant, retail and healthcare facilities. As a professional engineer, Darrell has extensive experience in construction design and business management, as well as a stable and profitable presence in the “repetitive build” industry. Most notably, Darrell is recognized for his significant knowledge of senior living and specialty healthcare facilities. To date, he has completed more than 100 healthcare projects, both freestanding and renovations/additions, throughout the United States.

As the vice president of the Jamail & Smith Construction senior living division, Darrell is responsible for the development and success of the overall business plan and serves as project general manager for senior living projects. Darrell earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering, as well as a Master of Engineering, from Texas A&M University. He also studied engineering in a doctoral program at the University of Texas at Austin. Darrell currently lives in Austin with his wife.
