Arlington ISD selects Jamail & Smith Construction to serve as their Job Order Contractor

(July 30, 2010 - Dallas, Texas) - Jamail & Smith Construction was awarded the Job Order Contract (JOC) for Arlington ISD to provide minor construction, renovations, repairs and alteration services to the district over the next five years. AISD is the 9th largest school district in Texas with a total of 74 schools - nine high schools, 13 junior high schools, 52 elementary schools and a host of operations facilities. 

This is the first job order contract at AISD, however key district staff have used JOC in other districts, saving time and money typically spent on administrative costs and procurement. Jamail & Smith Construction looks forward to implementing a similar JOC program for AISD to accomplish necessary facility additions and improvements that will improve safe, secure and comfortable learning environments for the over 62,000 students and AISD staff.

On November 3, 2009, the AISD voters approved a $197.5MM bond for facilities, technology, fine arts and transportation improvements. Jamail & Smith Construction has already started assisting the district in fast-tracking their bond program. Work could include: school and classroom additions to reduce the need for temporary classrooms, cafeteria expansions, addition of new science labs at high schools, safety and security additions, roofing and floor replacement, mechanical, electrical and plumbing upgrades and replacements, fire alarm system upgrades, site work, parking lot repairs, installation of sports flooring in gyms, repair of auditorium seating and athletic lockers, and more.
