Design Build

Jamail & Smith Construction has completed several major Design Build projects for owners throughout the State of Texas including: Galveston ISD, Fort Bend ISD, Houston ISD, City of Coppell, Catholic Diocese, Roosters, Texas State University, and many more. The Design Build is one of our preferred project delivery method. The Jamail & Smith Team believe that experience is the best teacher. Throughout our history, and as a result of the number of Design Build projects we have executed, we have learned how to address the many issues associated with building substantially and long life cycle facilities. We are committed to delivering the best value possible and providing a quality built facility.

Unlike traditional construction, the entire Design Build team participates from design conception through construction. Though varying degrees of involvement may occur at different points throughout the project life, all the stakeholders are involved and participate from beginning to end, minimizing the potential disconnects that can occur between the completion of design and start of construction. To ensure the objectives of both the Design Phase and Construction Phase are understood and committed to by all Partners therefore, we begin each project with a comprehensive partnering workshop which includes the owner, the architect and sub-consultants, the Design Builder, and significant subcontractors. The partnering workshop provides the venue to layout each stakeholder's objectives, as well as the overall objectives of the project as whole. By presenting these, with the priorities of the project as a whole as the first priority, most stakeholders objectives can be met, and committed to by the others in a collaborative and team oriented environment.
