Established in 1982, Jamail & Smith Construction has been a major part of the construction industry for nearly 30 years throughout the State of Texas. Our founder, James Jamail, is the third generation that has been actively involved in the Houston business community. Our firm began constructing shopping centers and retail facilities in 1982 and continues to serve many of those same clients today. With our flexibility and responsiveness, we were able to take on a large amount of work following and helping the citizens of Harris County recover from Hurricane Alicia in 1983 and continued to perform mostly public sector work through the 1980s. In 1992, we added facility maintenance and repair as a specialty, as well as the semiconductor industry. Today, we specialize in Job Order Contracting (JOC), New Building Construction, Design Build, and Construction Management at Risk Job Order Contracting (CM at Risk JOC).

As we grow, we continue to diversify our client base and develop our infrastructure to support sustained excellent performance. We were early to adopt value-based construction delivery systems and are now specializing in Job Order Contracting (JOC), New Building Construction, Design Build, Construction Management at Risk Job Order Contracting (CM at Risk JOC) and the various derivatives of that concept. We are currently operating over fifteen (15) JOCs for Higher Education, K-12 School Districts, counties and cities in Texas. We also operate an active subcontracting and general contracting practice focusing on municipal and school renovations and repairs. Additionally, Jamail & Smith Construction is the first contractor in Texas to delivery JOC through cooperative purchasing. We now hold more cooperative JOCs than any other firm - TXMAS, BuyBoard, JOC First and Central Texas Purchasing Alliance (CTPA).

Jamail & Smith Construction has a long history of a commitment to safety, which has led to numerous awards from clients and leading industry organizations for outstanding safety performance and best practices including: Associated Builders & Contractors, Inc. Gold Medal of Safety Excellence in 2005 and STEP Platinum Achievement Award for Safety Excellence for 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009.
